Additional Culture Lore

The Vadurkin are a proud people who have been shaped by the harsh mountain climate they inhabit. Known as the Raiders of the North, many outsiders see them as ruthless. However, the culture of the Vadurkin runs deep. With everything from codified laws and a robust barter and trade economy, to a complex system of religion and great libraries for scholarly pursuits.

Since the Kinstryfe, most Vadurkin never want to see Clan on Clan violence like that again, as such there is a heavy emphasis on Vadurkin community. This is the Culture that will feed and house a stranger under the Law of Hospitality, but will not hesitate to carry out what others would see as brutal retaliation for wrongdoings.

Meet your Out-of-Game Leadership

  • A man dressed as a medieval or fantasy character wearing a blue tunic with a hood, layered necklaces with charms, and a headband, holding a small sword or dagger in a leather sheath at his waist, standing outdoors with a tent in the background.

Katie H [War Caller Crone Dwynarin]

    Culture Lead

Once upon a time Katie was born and she grew up playing make believe, drooling over fantasy princess outfits, and believing that dragons really did exist a long time ago (why else are there so many stories about them from all over the planet). Then one day, after growing up and getting married, her husband asked, “Hey, wanna go larping in Kentucky?" She said yes, so they went to the 2024 Reckoning game as Vadurkin and Katie fell in love with playing make believe all over again.

High Crone of Light’s Crest Temple, War Caller Crone Dwynarin is one of three High Crones who help guide the Vadurkin through all their trials and tribulations. She is fierce, unyielding, determined, and caring. Fierce before the nightmare that is the feral orcs, unyielding in the face of the undead horde, determined when the odds seem to be stacked against her, and caring for the lives and spirits of her “children”, the Vadurkin.

  • A young man with face paint resembling tribal or warrior markings, wearing a leather necklace with beads and a decorative shoulder piece, standing outdoors among a group of people.

Nari M [Valli, Jarl of the Hrafn]

    Culture Lieutenant

Valli is played by Nari M. A cosplayer, seamstress, and storyteller. After a multi-week long hyperfocus on the idea of LARP she discovered Reckoning after year one and followed it closely before she joined Reckoning in year three.

In Game Valli is a bit of a wild card and a spitfire, she has big feelings and is not afraid to make it everyone else's problem. Four things that describe Valli are: loyalty to her clan, a fierce ‘will bite’ attitude, a propensity for breaking traditions, and playfulness that can be found when she is among those she trusts. Relatively new to her position of Jarl of the Hrafn, she is still working to bring the clan out of their long isolation and back into the fold of the Vadurkin.

  • A man with a mohawk haircut and full beard sitting on the grass surrounded by other people.

    Sam H [Hersir Vadir Hurf]

    Culture Lieutenant

Finding LARP relatively recently, Sam found the new worlds to live and play in as a wonderful new chapter in his already nerdy life.  Over a decade of working Renaissance Festivals and conventions has hopefully prepared him for the chaos that is trying to keep the Vadurkin train on the tracks.  Sam enjoys playing warriors and tanks, big shield, big mace, go bonk.  He still has SO much to learn about the various forms of fighting and is always looking forward to getting better.  Sam loves animals and has three adorable (sometimes murderous) cats.

Hurf is the leader of the Vadir, guardians of the Vadurkin Crones.  Often with a slight scowl, he can usually be found muttering curse words as he chases after them.  Hurf has stood steadfast against the terrors of the north, held the walls at the Siege of Divinfalls, and travelled the lands of the March as a younger Vadir.

Hurf takes great pride in his Vadir.  Whether it is facing down a wraith in the camp, or the fiercest Orc horde at the gates, he knows his Vadir will hold the line and keep their charges safe.
